We keep wearing out toasters so started surfing for toaster ovens. The video and reviews sold me on the Breville, which has far exceeded my expectations. For just the two of us, it’s nice for smaller meal prep but since family celebrations are often at our home, it’s also very handy when cooking for a crowd. It does a great job on everything I’ve thrown at it so far including breads, casseroles, broiled meats. Oh, yes, it even makes great toast; we especially like garlic toast made with steak buns. It cooks evenly, silently, and doesn’t heat up the house. Cook settings are easily adjusted and the lighted panel is easy to read. When placed for toast, the rack slides part-way out when the door is opened. This very slick feature is also useful when broiling….meats cook nicely at that level and the popout shelf makes it easy to turn the food. Cleanup is a breeze, even the broiler pan (just like a regular oven broiler, a little water in the pan will eliminate splatter). It’s such fun, I’m going to buy a toaster oven cookbook. I’ve cooked pizza, baked desserts, made lots of toast and bagels, and it’s convection feature makes it good for reheating leftovers. This oven is obviously on the expensive side, but it is without a doubt the best performing toaster over we have ever owned (and we’ve had quite a few over the years). Really solid & works great (just spend extra money & also get square trade warranty for it just to be on a safe side). I Have Frigidaire Gallery 30″ Double Oven Electric Range & I still use this one more than my other ovens (Maybe because I’m a guy, LOL). I find this really convenient as it heats really quick & super easy to cook smaller stuff. Over the years I’d bought several inexpensive toaster ovens from walmart, they do decent job but you really can’t compare this with those. This is my first toaster oven, so I can’t offer comparisons to others, but this made me a believer in toaster ovens! I love being able to bake a potato without heating up the whole house and running up my power bill. I hardly use my oven at all any more. It makes great little pizzas (I build my own using Naan bread) and the broiler works perfectly for hot dogs that almost taste like they were grilled. I’ve also used it to bake cookies (it just requires more small batches due to the oven size). Easy clean up, easy to use and looks good too! I wish the top rack would automatically pull out when opening the door like it does on the full size version, but it’s a minor issue. This is the e28 535i BMW of toaster ovens – fast, responsive, enough controls to calibrate your experience but still simple enough for my autistic son to pop in the toast and hit the start button (well, that’s not true of the BMW!). It’s smart enough to figure out how to successfully toast gluten-free toast, bagels, and english muffins without burning (a feat similar to ABS braking!) I bought mine in January and when it experienced a problem with the LCD screen in June had a very satisfying customer service experience with a 1.5 wk turn-around for a replacement – they paid the shipping.
